Biff Willingham – Flight Instructor, CFI, CFII, MEI

Biff WillinghamI have wanted to fly as far back as I can remember. Being a Lockheed brat I was always around airplanes. We lived 3 miles from Dobbins Air Force base while I was growing up and constantly had planes over the house.

I went into the U.S. Army after and worked on and around helicopters for 6 years. That only made the desire to fly stronger. But with a family and a busy schedule after leaving the Army I put flying on hold for another 20 years. The family responsibilities and busy schedule changed somewhat and in 1999 I took my first lesson. I was hooked.

My instructor at Toccoa Aviation was Tom Weir and anyone that knows Tom understands how much patience he must have had to make me a pilot. I completed my instrument training in Toccoa with Tom and moved to The Flight School of Gwinnett at Gwinnett County Airport for the remainder of my ratings.

After finishing my CFI and MEI I instructed at The Flight School for almostr 2 years. I completed an add-on helicopter rating with Harford “Dudley” Wright of Blue Ridge Helicopters at Gwinnett before coming to Lanier Flight Center.

I teach others today because of what my first instructor taught me. Give someone a chance and anything is possible.
