Troy Wheeler – President

Troy WheelerTroy Wheeler is the President of Lanier Flight Center and Lanier Flight Express. Troy has been in aviation since 1982 when he started flying at Peachtree Dekalb Airport in Atlanta Georgia.

Troy’s flight training was with Epps Flight School under his mentors Steve Shaner and Clint Rodgers. Troy then started flight instructing at Charlie Brown Flying Club at Fulton County Airport providing private though ATP training. In 1987, Troy joined American Eagle where his primary duties were as Captain on the SA 227. Troy was then hired by American Airlines in 1990 and currently is an International First Officer on the Boeing 777.

Troy has an ATP and is type rated in the SA227, 757, 767 and 777. Troy maintains a Commercial Single Engine and multiengine with Instrument Rating, CFI, CFII and MEI.  Total flight time exceeds 13, 500 hours.

In 2002 Troy started teaching his brother Kenny Wheeler to fly. They purchased a Piper Cherokee 140 and were flying out of the Gainesville Airport. Troy and Kenny saw a need for a flight school in the area. Lanier Flight Center was opened in September 2003 with a 2003 Cessna SP 172 .
