LFC TO HOST MEETING FOR OPENING LAKE TO FLOAT PLANES!

Calling all aviators and aviation enthusiasts in the Lake Lanier and Atlanta area!

How would you like to combine the love of flying and the joy of water sport?  Who hasn’t thumbed-through an outdoor adventure magazine and envied that guy camping and fishing next to his float plane?  Have you ever flown over Georgia’s largest lake and wondered what it would be like to land and taxi to your dock?  If any of these sound like you, or if you think learning to take-off on water sounds like the epitome of FUN, then you won’t want to miss this…

Join your friends at Lanier Flight Center for an Information Meeting on Saturday, June 29, at 9:00am in the main hangar at LFC in Gainesville.  Steve McCaughey, the Executive Director of the Seaplane Pilots Association, and other notable guests will share valuable data and answer many questions at the forefront of the discussion on seaplane operations on lakes and waterways.   We are excited to share Mr. McCaughey’s vast experience and knowledge, as well as provide an update to the processes underway for acquiring access to Lake Lanier for seaplanes.  Troy Wheeler, owner and president of Lanier Flight Center, holds a seaplane rating and has just been named the Georgia Field Director for the Seaplane Pilots Association.  In his words, “We are all in!”  Our commitment to coordinating efforts with the governing bodies, landowners, and community in order to bring business and revenue to the area while respecting the boundaries necessary for protecting boaters and nature, needs your input and understanding.  So, please mark your calendars, and thank you for being a part of this landmark endeavor.
