SAFETY
Safety Program
At Lanier Flight Express, safety is the cornerstone of our operation and the guiding principle for every decision we make. Our commitment extends beyond regulatory compliance to a proactive, structured approach designed to anticipate and mitigate risk at every level of the organization.
We maintain a fully developed Safety Management System (SMS) that provides the framework for continuous improvement in operational safety. The SMS integrates four key components—safety policy, safety risk management, safety assurance, and safety promotion—ensuring that hazards are identified, analyzed, and addressed through formal processes. This system allows our personnel to participate in safety reporting without fear of reprisal, encouraging open communication and fostering a strong safety culture.
As part of our SMS, every flight undergoes evaluation through a Flight Risk Assessment Tool (FRAT). This structured review identifies operational factors such as weather, crew duty limitations, airport considerations, and aircraft performance. Risks are scored, documented, and mitigated before flight release, ensuring a consistent, measurable standard of safety for each operation.
Oversight of our safety program is led by our Designated Safety Director, Bob Williams, a former FAA Principal Operations Inspector (POI). With his extensive regulatory and operational background, Mr. Williams ensures our policies, procedures, and practices remain compliant with FAA requirements while incorporating industry best practices. His leadership also provides a direct link between management and flight crews, reinforcing accountability and transparency.
In addition to daily safety practices, Lanier Flight Express conducts annual Safety Stand Down meetings. These dedicated sessions bring together flight crews, maintenance personnel, and management for a comprehensive review of safety issues, regulatory updates, and case-based training. Stand Downs provide an opportunity to analyze real-world scenarios, address emerging risks, and ensure that safety remains a shared responsibility across the organization.
Our dedication to safety has been independently validated through our recognition as an ARGUS Gold Rated Operator. This distinction is awarded only after a thorough audit of operational control, crew experience, maintenance practices, and safety management processes. It affirms that our company not only meets but consistently exceeds industry benchmarks for safe air carrier operations.
Lanier Flight Express views safety as an ongoing process, not a one-time achievement. Through structured reporting, recurring training, oversight from an experienced Safety Director, and a fully integrated SMS, we ensure that safety remains the foundation of all flight operations. Clients and stakeholders can be confident that each mission is conducted with the highest regard for compliance, professionalism, and operational integrity.
Protocol requires our Captains to hold an FAA Airline Transport Pilot License (highest available) and to receive rigorous training that far exceeds the industry standard. LANIER FLIGHT EXPRESS pilots participate in two annual training courses, receive simulator-based flight training to be type-rated in the aircraft, and must perform two check rides per year with an FAA-approved check airman.
